The Wandering Fire Read-Along: Week 1

It's been a while, dear readers. My brain has had no blogging capacity since about mid-May, and though I managed to push through to the end of Wyrd and Wonder, I had to take a step back during June, and since then I've slowed my reading way down and actually started writing my own stuff… Continue reading The Wandering Fire Read-Along: Week 1

The Darkest Part of the Forest Readalong: Week Four

It's been a weird last week of May, so I'm getting to this later than I would like, but at last I am able to sit down and discuss my final thoughts on Holly Black's The Darkest Part of the Forest, which was one of our readalong titles for this year's Wyrd and Wonder! This week the questions were provided by Lisa at Dear Geek Place, who also hosted the readalong, and thank you so much for a great time! In this final section, all the showdowns happen, so let's get going, and please beware of spoilers!

The Summer Tree Readalong: Week Four

It's over! It's always bittersweet to finish a readalong, because on the one hand I couldn't wait to get to the end and find out what happens but on the other I will miss being part of this reading journey with such wonderful companions! This week, everything is happening, so please beware of spoilers going forward. Thank you to the magnificent Mayri the Bookforager for the closing questions - let's get to it!

A Wyrd & Wonder Instagram Showcase: Week Three

Another week has gone past, and you're all still killing it with your photos for this year's prompts! Annemieke and I are very excited to share some of those. Last week, I looked at Mythic, Undergods, and Weapons while Annemieke showed off your Best Laid Plans and 5 Star Fantasy Reads. Today you can find a showcase of #ShelfieSunday, Dark, and Bite-Sized Delights over at A Dance With Books while I look at your Current Reads and Fantasy Landscapes. Let's go!

The Darkest Part of the Forest Readalong: Week Three

Things are moving non-stop in Holly Black's The Darkest Part of the Forest and in week three twists upon twists are abundant! Thank you kindly to the wonderful Bookforager Mayri for the questions, and I am going to dive straight in... please beware that at this point it's spoilers galore!

Eurovision Outfits as Fantasy Book Covers

Some might say Eurovision is over for the year, but the truth is, Eurovision is never over! If you haven't guessed, I'm a big fan, and because May is both the month of this fantastical music contest AND the bookish Wyrd and Wonder, I thought I'd mash the two together to create something weird and wonderful (pun intended). The premise is simple: any outfits/stage looks that took my fancy, whether during the premier, or the show itself, paired with a fantasy book cover I think matches its colours and vibes.

Author Chat: Lucy Holland

Sistersong is a lyrical, mythical story based on the folk ballad, The Two Sisters, and set in and around the hold of a great chief in the Dark Ages of Britain. I did review this book last year, and will provide a blurb at the end of this article, but today I wanted to talk to Lucy about her inspirations and writing process, especially since a follow-up book is in the works! So welcome, Lucy Holland, to the Book Nook.
