Fantastic Fives: A Song For A Book

As well as our daily prompts, we’ve got our Fantastic Fives every Sunday for Wyrd & Wonder this year! This week, it’s ‘Your Favourite Songs Associated With the Magical’ and I’m giving it a bit of a twist – putting my music on shuffle, I’m going to get five songs at random and then try and link them to a fantasy book!

1. Fall by Neck Deep

Fall by Neck Deep is one of my favourites from this album, and it actually reminds me of my current read: Painted Devils by Margaret Owen because of the way Vanja and Emeric’s relationship has that dynamic of slightly chaotic but also passionate.

2. Spirit Cold by Tall Heights

Spirit Cold by Tall Heights makes me think of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik because of the cold vibes and also it feels quite folky, like the book.

3. Milano Good Vibes by Mahmood

Mahmood is my boy, I love him so much, and his song Milano Good Vibes makes me think of The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune because it’s all about life being better on a beach.

4. Birth of a New Age by Jeangu Macrooy

Birth of a New Age is a bop, and it’s also about how ‘your rhythm is rebellion’ which makes me think of The Unbroken by C.L. Clark.

5. To Noise Making (Sing) by Hozier

My other boy: Hozier – To Noise Making makes me think of Joron in Call of the Bone Ships by RJ Barker because of various plot things I can’t talk about.
