Wyrd And Wonder

Announcing Wyrd & Wonder 2022

I am beyond delighted to say that this year I am joining the fabulous trio of Imyril from There’s Always Room for One More, Lisa from Dear Geek Place, and Jorie from Jorie Loves a Story and becoming a part of the Wyrd and Wonder team along with Annemieke from A Dance With Books. All of these people are bookishly fantastic and if you don’t already follow them I highly recommend it, especially since the five of us are already making plans for May, which will mark the 5th year of Wyrd and Wonder! But, okay, what am I actually talking about, and what is Wyrd and Wonder?

It is a joyous, month-long celebration of fantasy in all its forms: books, films, games, art, music, crafts… we basically get to spend the entirety of May celebrating the fantasy genre with like-minded fans via blogs, tweets, instagram posts, TikTok videos, and anything else that comes to mind. It’s very informal, and people can join in as much and as little as they want, but you can expect reviews, read-alongs (my favourite!), daily challenges, memes, live tweets, and even a couple of giveaways! I only joined in for the first time last year and I’m so glad I did – it’s a great way to meet other fantasy lovers, add even more books to your TBRs, get a chance to shout about your own favourite stories, and a great excuse to post pictures of books for our challenges. The event is whatever you bring to it, though we co-hosts will certainly endeavour to provide as much fun, ideas, and entertainment as possible!

Especially because, as I said, this year will be the 5th Wyrd & Wonder event and we want to make it even more magical! We’re embracing the number five (have you noted the date?), and because traditionally a 5th anniversary is marked by wood, we are embracing forest-themed fantasy as well! Of course, we will still celebrate all fantasy, but our wolf mascot has spoken, so expect to see a lot of five-themed and forest-themed things.

It may only be February but you should start getting excited for all that is to come! You can find us on Twitter @ wyrdandwonder and on Instagram @ wyrdandwonder – our instagram account is brand new and I’m especially excited to start sharing with you all on there! We’ve also already got a Sign Up Form set up on Google docs, which lets us know who will be joining us on our journey through other worlds and signs you up to our giveaway as well! More details for that will follow, so do watch this space.

Tell your friends, save the date, follow us for updates, and grab a banner -and remember to credit the artist- if you want to start making some noise!

  1. Hallo, Hallo Ariana,

I loved how you pulled in our theme for the year and how you spoke about all the different ways people can join us to celebrate Fantasy. We always try to be open and transparent that Wyrd And Wonder is a personal journey into the adventure of Fantasy and you’ve nailed it!! So happy to have you with us this year, alongside Annemieke — I can already say its been a delight of joy having you part of the team.

I also agree with you – its a great way to find like-minded bookish spirits and to find others who share similar joys in reading Fantasy or watching Fantasy or seeking out the fantastical every which way they can! That’s the best bit really.

    1. Hi Jorie! Still can’t quite believe I get to be part of the team behind my favourite blogging event – and especially because all of you are so lovely and I get to know you each a little better! Very excited to see what we put together for May.
