Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic, and you compile ten books that fit the theme. You can find more information here.
Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a good Tuesday! The theme for this week is ‘Favourite Places to Read’. Now, since I am a very much a home-bod there are only a few places that I tend to read, and for this reason Top Ten Tuesday has become Top Five Tuesday this week. So, without further ado, here are some of my favourite places to read…
My Bed – before going to sleep I like to wind down with a nice book under the covers, surrounded by my fairy lights with soft classical music playing in the background. It’s the highlight of my day…just kidding (or am I?)
A chair with a view of the garden – at the back of my kitchen there’s a seat which overlooks the garden, with its beautiful flowers and the various birds that often come to visit – we even had a Sparrowhawk today! If no one else is occupying the kitchen, I like to curl up with a book and a cup of tea, and just enjoy the view set before me.
Wrapped up in a blanket on the couch – whether it’s winter or summer (and in the UK there isn’t much of a difference) I love to snuggle up under a blanket and read. And because I don’t have a real fireplace, I like to switch on the fireplace on the TV – it just adds a little ambience to the reading experience.
Public transport – I find that nothing passes the time better than reading. So, whenever I have a long journey, whether on a bus or the train, I always make sure to have a book with me.
Anywhere on vacation – the perfect time for me to read is when I am on vacation. To make the most of my time away I like to go completely off the grid: I don’t look at social media and, when I can, I turn off my devices. This way I can have more time to enjoy my surrounding, spend time with family, and – of course – read. I’ll be going on holiday next week and I’m really looking forward to reading the classic Pride and Prejudice, which I read every summer.
Chair with the view of the garden is like paradise! 🙂

I miss reading on public transport. But I live close to work, so it‘s my bike or on foot. Walking to work gives me 15 minutes of my audiobook…
